Firefly 2 Vaporizer Review

Just like any good tech company, the big brains over at Firefly Vapor did the right thing.

They listened to their audience, made some adjustments, and delivered a new and improved version of the original Firefly.

But…is it all it’s cracked up to be?

Let’s find out.

TL;DR Verdict

Product Overview

Portability

Right off the bat, you notice a huge difference in weight and size when you compare the FF2 to the original model:

firefly 2 size vs firefly 1 size

The Firefly 2 is 33% smaller and 55% lighter than its predecessor which is a significant improvement because re-engineering a vape that was already as awesome as the original device takes some serious work.

Battery

One of my biggest issues with the original Firefly was the abysmal battery life, however, with the FF2, they have also optimized the battery life via fast charging. It now has one of the most convenient and quickest chargers with a full battery charging time of only 45 minutes.

Straight out of the box, the Firefly 2 comes with two batteries so you can alternate charges, which I do recommend.

Pro Tip
Always cycle through your batteries. Charge one fully, let it die, replace with the 2nd one, repeat. This will lengthen the life of your batteries not just on this vape, but on others as well.

Dynamic Convection

firefly 2 portable vaporizer review

The Firefly 2 has a somewhat unique convection heating system.

Unlike other vapes on the market these days, the Firefly 2 does not continually heat up your herbs or concentrates. Instead, this system allows the unit to heat up within 3 – 5 seconds so you can easily take your draw without worrying about wasting any herb.

This makes the Firefly 2 one of the most efficient portable herbal vapes available because it will take less to see more results when you use it.

Concentrate Pads

The Firefly 2 is meant primarily as a dry herb vaporizer and has five (5) different presets geared toward great and bold dry herb vaping sessions.

A sixth (6th) preset is intended for concentrate vaping to be used with the concentrate pads that come with it. These pads are meant to be secured in the bowl by simply pushing them down a little bit. You should be able to completely hold the unit upside down and not have the pad fall out.

Using the Firefly 2 vaporizer for concentrates is just as simple as dry herbs. Once you have your concentrate pad secured in place, place a little dab of your favorite concentrate on the pad and use the included smartphone app to select preset six (6).

This burns at a much higher rate (500°F) which is needed to vape concentrates.

Pros/Cons

Pros
  • Portability – The Firefly 2 is a great improvement over the original Firefly. In terms of portability, it is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor. The Firefly 2 is a much smaller and much lighter vape with lots of power and a very quick heating time.
  • Heating System – The unique dynamic convection heating system means you can have small sessions or take a couple hits on the go without worrying about your herb being wasted. Even with all of this heat, the unit stays relatively cool during use, even when touching the bowl directly.
Cons
  • Smaller Oven – The smaller oven means you can’t have longer sessions with a group of people as easily. You kind of give this up in order to have the smaller and lighter design with the great heating time. While not a deal breaker, if you want something for longer sessions, the Firefly is probably not what you’re looking for.
  • Learning Curve – Even for experienced users, getting the right hit on may require a bit of a learning curve. This isn’t anything drastic, but you will have to pay attention to things such as the grind of your herb and how much you pack.

Verdict

The Firefly 2 vaporizer from is by far one of the best portable “high-end” vapes on the market at the moment.

It cannot be any easier to use and maintain and the dynamic convection heating system gives you a quick and efficient and quick heating time.

The only real drawback is going to be the amount of repacking that you will have to do, but if you enjoy hitting and quitting, then the Firefly 2 vaporizer is the shit.
